Aliyu Tahir, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for signing the 2023 Electricity Act into law. This commendation was made by Tahir during the celebration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.

Ama Umoren, the Head of Communication and Protocol at NEMSA, conveyed Tahir’s appreciation in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday. In his message, Tahir commended President Tinubu for his leadership and his commitment to improving electricity supply services in the country.

Tahir also acknowledged the relentless efforts of Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, in providing essential policy direction for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

He recalled that NEMSA was established under the Electricity Act, 2015 (now Electricity Act, 2023), with the mandate to enforce technical standards and regulations, conduct technical inspections, and perform functions such as testing and certifying various electrical installations, electricity meters, and instruments. These activities aim to ensure the efficient production and delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable power supply.

Tahir emphasized that NEMSA’s top priority is to establish stable, safe, and reliable electricity networks for Nigerians. Through collaboration with partners, the agency strives to achieve zero electrical accidents, enforce energy accountability, eliminate sub-standard equipment and materials, and eliminate unqualified electrical personnel from the system.

He stated that effective service delivery is a key strategy to realize this vision, and NEMSA is guided by core corporate values, including a commitment to quality service, safety, honesty, integrity, leadership, and collaboration.
