Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu, the Convener of The Change We Need Nigeria Initiative (TCWNNI) and General Overseer of Charismatic Renewal Ministries, delivered a strong message challenging politicians to prioritize good governance over palliatives in response to the effects of fuel subsidy removal. He expressed these sentiments during the 14th edition of the TCWNNI Project, held in Abuja on Sunday.

Dr. Ilechukwu emphasized that what Nigerians truly need is not temporary palliatives but effective governance. He stated, “If things are done well, we don’t need palliatives.” He called on citizens to demand accountability and good governance from their leaders at both the federal and state levels, asserting that it is their right as part of the social contract.

He continued by urging leaders to utilize the nation’s common wealth for the common good, reinforcing the importance of responsible leadership. Despite acknowledging some improvements in the country since the inception of the TCWNNI Project, Dr. Ilechukwu stressed that there is still much work to be done. He remained optimistic, citing the power of perseverance in prayer and faith in the answers to their prayers.

The TCWNNI Project is an annual event held in October, gathering participants to pray for Nigeria’s prosperity and effective governance. Dr. Robert Agbahia, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, highlighted the program’s purpose of coming together to pray for the nation, ensuring that it thrives.
